Offensive Players
Zach Strief, Offensive Tackle, New Orleans Saints (Class of 2006)
The New Orleans Saints (5-1) were on a bye this week.
Defensive Players
Corey Wootton, Defensive End, Chicago Bears (Class of 2010)
Two tackles (one solo), one tackle for a loss, and one quarterback hit in a 45-41 loss to the Washington Redskins.
Corbin Bryant, Defensive Tackle, Buffalo Bills (Class of 2010)
One tackle in the Bills 23-21 win over the Miami Dolphins.
Barry Cofield, Nose Tackle, Washington Redskins (Class of 2006)
Three tackles (three solo), one sack, one tackle for a loss and one quarterback hit in a 45-41 win over the Bears.
Nick Roach, Linebacker, Oakland Raiders (Class of 2007)
The Oakland Raiders (2-4) were on a bye this week.
Sherrick McManis, Cornerback, Chicago Bears (Class of 2010)
Served as a reserve cornerback in the Bears 45-41 loss versus the Redskins.
Marquice Cole, Cornerback, New England Patriots (Class of 2007)
Three tackles (two solo) in the Patriots 30-27 loss to the New York Jets.
Northwestern NFL Player of the Week:
Barry Cofield. Cofield had three tackles (three solo), one sack, one tackle for a loss and one quarterback hit as the Redskins beat the Bears 45-41. On the season, Cofield has 12 tackles (nine solo), three sacks, one fumble recovery, and one stuff for four yards. Cofield is an eight-year veteran from Cleveland Heights, Ohio, first drafted by the New York Giants in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft. Cofield played five years for the Giants, including the 2008 Super Bowl win over the Patriots in which he had one tackle (one solo). In 2011, Cofield signed a six-year $36 million contract with the Washington Redskins. For his career, Cofield has 283 tackles (193 solo), 19.0 sacks, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, 25 passes defended, 20 stuffs for 54 yards, and one blocked kick.
