Northwestern NFL Roundup: Week 10

Northwestern has seven football alumni currently on NFL active rosters.

Here’s how they did this week in the NFL:

Offensive Players

Zach Strief, Offensive Tackle, New Orleans Saints (Class of 2006):

Starting offensive tackle in the Saints 49-17 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

Defensive Players

Corey Wootton, Defensive End, Chicago Bears (Class of 2010):

One pass defended in the Bears 21-19 loss to the Detroit Lions.

Corbin Bryant, Defensive Tackle, Buffalo Bills (Class of 2010)

One tackle (1 solo) in the Bills 23-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Barry Cofield, Nose Tackle, Washington Redskins (Class of 2006)

Starting Nose Tackle in the Redskins 34-27 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Nick Roach, Linebacker, Oakland Raiders (Class of 2007)

Seven tackles (6 solo) in the Raiders 24-20 loss to the New York Giants.

Sherrick McManis, Cornerback, Chicago Bears (Class of 2010)

Served as reserved cornerback in Bears 21-19 loss to the Lions.

Marquice Cole, Cornerback, New England Patriots (Class of 2007)

The New England Patriots are on a bye this week.

Northwestern NFL Player of the Week:

Nick Roach. Roach had seven tackles (6 solo) in the Raiders 24-20 loss to the New York Giants. On the season Roach has 64 tackles (43 solo), 2.0 sacks, one pass defended, one forced fumble, and three stuffs for nine yards. Roach was a four-year letter winner at Northwestern; starting 32 of 45 games he played in. His collegiate career was cut short when he suffered a broken-leg against Michigan State during his senior season. For his career as a Wildcat, Roach had 241 tackles (137 solo), 16 tackles for a loss for 79 yards, seven passes defended, two forced fumbles, nine sacks and two interceptions, one of which he returned 35 yards for a touchdown during his junior season in the Sun Bowl versus UCLA.

Northwestern also has four players on NFL practice squads:
