Northwestern NFL Roundup Week 15

WNUR’s Ari Ross (@aross50) recaps the Week 15 action for Northwestern Wildcats football alumni in the National Football League.

Northwestern has nine football alumni currently on NFL active rosters.

Here’s how they did this week in the NFL:

Offensive Players

Jeremy Ebert, Wide Receiver, Jacksonville Jaguars (Northwestern Class of 2012)

One catch for eight yards in the Jaguars 27-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills

Zach Strief, Offensive Tackle, New Orleans Saints (Northwestern Class of 2006)

Started at offensive tackle in the Saints 27-16 loss to the St. Louis Rams

Defensive Players

Brian Arnfelt, Defensive End, Pittsburgh Steelers (Northwestern Class of 2013)

The Steelers promoted Arnfelt to the active roster on Dec. 14

Reserve defensive end in the Steelers 30-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals

Corey Wootton, Defensive End, Chicago Bears (Northwestern Class of 2010)

One tackle (1 solo) in the Bears 38-31 win over the Cleveland Browns

Corbin Bryant, Defensive Tackle, Buffalo Bills (Northwestern Class of 2010)

One tackle (1 solo) in the Bills 27-20 win over the Jaguars

One tackle in the Patriots 24-20 loss to the Miami Dolphins

Northwestern NFL Player of the Week:

Jeremy Ebert. Ebert was targeted twice and had one catch for eight yards in the Jaguars 27-20 loss to the Bills. Ebert was promoted Nov. 23 from the Jaguars practice squad and has been on the roster since. For the season Ebert has appeared in five games. He has been targeted six times and has three catches for 18 yards. The Jaguars drafted Ebert with the 235th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. As a Wildcat, Ebert was named to the second-team All-Big Ten his senior year as he played in all 13 games, catching 75 passes for 1060 yards and 11 touchdowns. For his career at Northwestern, Ebert appeared in 52 games, starting in 35. He caught 173 passes for 2400 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Northwestern also has two players on NFL practice squads:
