Northwestern NFL Recap: Week 2

Northwestern has six football alumni currently on NFL active rosters.
Here’s how they did this week in the NFL:
Zach Strief, Offensive Tackle, New Orleans Saints (Northwestern Class of 2006)
Started at offensive tackle in the Saints 26-24 loss to the Cleveland Browns.
Corey Wootton, Defensive End, Minnesota Vikings (Northwestern Class of 2010)
Recorded one tackle in the Vikings 30-7 loss to the New England Patriots.
Corbin Bryant, Defensive Tackle, Buffalo Bills (Northwestern Class of 2010)
Bryant recorded one tackle (1 solo) in the Bills 29-10 win over the Miami Dolphins
Barry Cofield, Nose Tackle, Washington Redskins (Northwestern Class of 2006)
After suffering a high ankle sprain in Week 1, the Redskins placed Cofield on the short-term injured reserve. Cofield will be eligble to return around Week 9.
Nick Roach, Linebacker, Oakland Raiders (Northwestern Class of 2007)
Roach was inactive against the Houston Texans due to a concussion.
McManis recorded two tackles (2 solo) in the Bears 28-20 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
Northwestern NFL Player of the Week:
Sherrick McManis. McManis had two tackles in the Bears come-from-behind victory over the San Francisco 49ers. McManis re-signed with the Bears in the offseason after contributing mostly on special teams for the Bears. McManis had 10 tackles (8 solo) and one pass defended last season with the Bears. The Bears acquired McManis in a trade with the Texans before the 2012 season. At Northwestern, McManis was a co-captain his senior year and earned an invite to the East-West Shrine Game, although he was unable to participate due to injury.
