The trip will serve as an unexpected homecoming for graduate transfer Joey van Zegeren who played three years for the Hokies before transferring to NU for 2015-16.
The Hokies went 11-22 and 2-16 in conference last season under first-year head coach Buzz Williams. The match-up with the Wildcats will be the first ever meeting between the two programs.
Northwestern is 6-10 all-time in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge and lost to Georgia Tech 66-58 at home last season, Chris Collins’ second loss in the challenge.
