Northwestern Gets Their Quarterback: Aidan Smith Commits to NU

Another minute, another recruit for Pat Fitzgerald and the Northwestern Wildcats, as quarterback Aidan Smith heads to Evanston.

Smith is listed as a pro-style quarterback out of Fort Wayne, Indiana who also had offers from Boston College and several MAC schools, including Ohio and Ball State. Rials rates the 6-foot-3, 188-pounder as the 16th-best pro-style passer in the class of 2016.

Smith fills a big-time void in NU’s recruiting class, especially after Deuce Wallace decommitted from the ‘Cats and flipped to Vanderbilt last month. Not sure what this means in regards to quarterback Josh Jackson, who’s expected to announce later this week, but it might not be a good sign.

Smith actually finished one spot AHEAD of Wallace at the Rivals Quarterback Challenge Finals this weekend in Baltimore. That said, Wallace is Rivals’ 10th-ranked pro-style signal-caller in this year’s class, six spots ahead of Smith.
