Tommy Carnifax will be the first official member of Northwestern’s 2016 football recruiting class. Carnifax will enroll at Northwestern winter quarter and will be eligible for spring practice, the same thing Parrker Westphal did a few years ago. On a news release available at NUSports.com, Carnifax talked about his decision to commit to Northwestern:
“I love the coaching staff, and they’re all great guys,” Carnifax said at the time of his verbal pledge to the Wildcats. “When you add in the academic part of things, it just can’t be topped by any other school. I was heavily influenced by the Northwestern academic reputation, and that played a big part in my decision. I visited a lot of schools before making this decision, and I know it’s the right one.”
247 Sports rates Carnifax as a 3-star recruit at strong side defensive end, the 31st ranked player at his position and the 26th ranked recruit from Ohio. He picked Northwestern over Wisconsin, Iowa, Maryland and others.
We are excited to announce that @tcarnifax45 has signed with the #B1GCats and will enroll early. http://t.co/vlPFKoXljt
