Fresh off Nia Coffey’s selection to the Preseason All-Big Ten team, Northwestern women’s basketball has more good news.

According to the media, Northwestern is ranked 3rd in the Big Ten going into the 2015-16 campaign, behind Maryland and Ohio State.

Last season, Northwestern’s 12-6 Big Ten record put them in a tie for 4th with Rutgers behind Maryland Iowa and Ohio State.  But with Iowa losing a host of impact players and Northwestern returning its top 5 scorers from last season, the media favors Northwestern to make the jump into the top 3.

The coaches voted Michigan State, who finished 9th in the conference last year, to finish 3rd behind Maryland and Ohio State.  The Spartans are led by unanimous All-B1G selection Aerial Powers and fellow All-Big Ten guard Tori Jankoska.

Northwestern will have to replace Karly Roser and Alex Cohen, but the Big Ten media don’t expect the Wildcats to miss a beat.
