Sportsathon ‘CatChat: Dave Revsine

The WNUR Sports ‘CatChat series is back for the fifth annual Sportsathon! In these interviews, we’ll talk to WNUR Sports alumni about their time at the station, awesome moments as a Northwestern student and their experience in the professional world. You can learn more about Sportsathon here.

Our Ryan Fish and Adam Braunstein talked with Dave Revsine, the current lead studio host at the Big Ten Network. Revsine graduated from Northwestern as a history major in 1991 after serving as a broadcaster for WNUR Sports during his time in Evanston. After graduation, Revsine studied abroad for a year and was an investment banker in New York City before coming back to the broadcasting field. He worked as a reporter in the small markets of Sherman, Texas and the Quad Cities before being hired by ESPN in 1996. After a mix of on-air programming for the network and some basketball play-by-play, Revsine left ESPN in 2007 to become the lead anchor for the newly-established Big Ten Network. Here, he discusses, among other things, some of his favorite memories while at WNUR, his roots in a Northwestern family and how the broadcast journalism field is different today than it was when he was in school.
