With their huge win this past weekend in Madison over the Wisconsin Badgers, the Northwestern Wildcats’ chances of playing in a New Years’ Day bowl increased significantly, as it’s now very possible for Pat Fitzgerald’s team to play in the Outback Bowl against a SEC opponent. There are various scenarios — all including how the better Big Ten teams do this final regular season weekend as well as which team wins the Big Ten Championship — which factor into where the Wildcats will be playing in a bowl game, but all Northwestern can do is beat Illinois on Saturday and hope for the best.
