Lacrosse season is around the corner, and Northwestern players are receiving pre-season all-America attention.
Sophomore attacker Selena Lasota was named to the first team and junior mid Sheila Nesselbush was named to the third team in the Face-Off Yearbook pre-season All-American selections.
The Wildcats are ranked fifth in the Yearbook’s pre-season top 25, with defending champion and league foe Maryland ranked number one.
Lasota led last year’s team with 69 goals and 78 points as a freshman, while Nesselbush scored 27 goals and tallied 33 points.
While Face-Off Yearbook does not place freshmen on its pre-season All-America teams, the Wildcats boasted the nation’s eighth-ranked recruiting class, featuring four players from Inside Lacrosse’s top 50 freshmen.
Northwestern had a streak of 10 consecutive Final Four trips snapped last season in the quarterfinals by top-seeded Maryland. The Wildcats have reached 12 straight NCAA tournaments, and while the team’s schedule has not yet been released, play is expected to begin in early February.
