Fresh off a season where Ashley Deary reset the Big Ten steals record, Deary has been named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.

Deary, despite being listed at just 5-4, is one of the most disruptive forces in the conference.  She averaged 4.3 steals and the effect that she has on opposing point guards psyches can’t be explained in stats.

It should be no surprise that as the winner of this award, Deary headlines the All-Defense team, joining Maryland’s Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, Purdue’s April Wilson, Rutgers’ Rachel Hollivay, and Ohio State’s Alexa Hart.
