WBB HIGHLIGHTS: Wildcats Top Badgers in OT

Northwestern opened the 2016 Big Ten Women’s Basketball tournament in exciting fashion, defeating 13th-seeded Wisconsin 76-72 in Overtime. Northwestern senior Maggie Lyon did not play due to a lower-body injury, and will be reevaluated before tomorrow’s game against Minnesota, which will tip-off at approximately 1:30 CT.
The ‘Cats were led by both Christen Inman and Nia Coffey, who scored 18 points each. Coffey, however, was forced to sit out the final 8 minutes after fouling out in the fourth quarter. Ashley Deary chipped in 16 points.
Inman’s lay-up with 22 seconds to go in regulation tied the score at 67. Wisconsin had a chance to win the game in regulation, but the Badgers failed to get a shot off.
Amber Jamison’s jumper in overtime put Northwestern ahead 71-69, a lead which they never relinquished.
Northwestern will return to action tomorrow against Minnesota, who they lost to 95-92 in Minneapolis, and 112-106 in double overtime in Evanston.
