Northwestern Women’s Golf sweeps Big Ten postseason awards

After winning the Big Ten for the second straight year, Northwestern Women’s Golf also swept the individual awards.
Sophomore Hannah Kim was named the Big Ten Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Kim was also named Big Ten Freshman of the Year last season in addition to being named Big Ten Player of the Year and First-team All-Big Ten. She’s the first player to repeat as Big Ten Player of the Year since 2009.

Freshman Stephanie Lau was also named Big Ten Freshman of the Year, marking the second consecutive year the ‘Cats have captured the award. Lau finished tied for fouth, 5-under par, at the Big Ten championships. She also set a program record for the lowest tournament round when she shot 10-under par.

Finally, head coach Emily Fletcher was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year after she led the ‘Cats to their second straight Big Ten title and their third in four year.

Following their Big Ten Championship, Northwestern will head to the Shoal Creek NCAA Regional as the No. 2 seed. The top-6 finishers in Shoal Creek with advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Last year, the Wildcats advanced to the NCAA Championships for the third straight year, finishing 10th at Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla, their best finish in program history.
