Northwestern to play Texas in the Legends Classic

Northwestern Men’s Basketball will play the Texas Longhorns in the first round of the 2016 Legends Classic according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

With a win against Shaka Smart and the Longhorns, the Wildcats would play the winner of the Notre Dame vs. Colorado matchup. With a loss, Northwestern would take on the loser in the third-place matchup.

Facing Texas will give the Wildcats an opportunity to add a marquee win to their non-conference resume. Last season the Longhorns finished No. 27 in the RPI and No. 36 in Ken Pomeroy’s College Basketball Ratings.

And with the announcement of Texas, though not official yet, the Wildcats non-conference schedule is almost complete. The only opponent not yet known, is the other Legends Classic opening round opponent, along with Bryant, that the Wildcats will face before heading to the Barclay’s Center to take on Texas.
