Women’s Basketball:

11/20 LOSS vs. Kansas

Happy Holidays from WNUR Sports!

With the holiday season upon us, the Wildcats spent last week in Las Vegas, Nevada for the Duel in the Desert tournament. After beating the Wichita Shockers in the game before, the Wildcats came up short in a tough matchup against the Kansas Jayhawks, falling 66-57.

Sophomores Jordan Hamilton and Lindsey Pulliam led the team with a combined 31 points, and junior Abi Scheid led the team in rebounds with seven. First year Veronica Burton let her presence be felt on the court with a solid 11-point performance, while senior Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah was limited to just two points in the loss.

This was the last non-conference game for the Wildcats before they enter Big Ten play, and with the loss the Wildcats finish 7-4 against non-conference opponents. Northwestern’s next game will be against Rutgers on December 28 at 3 p.m. in New Jersey.

BONUS NOTES:

Looking ahead to next week, the Men’s Basketball team will play Columbia on December 30 at 3 p.m. in Welsh-Ryan Arena, and the Football team will be playing in the Holiday Bowl on December 31 at 6 p.m. in San Diego against Utah. Coming off the loss to Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship game, the Wildcats will be looking to top off what would otherwise be a fantastic season with a third straight bowl victory.
