Highlights: The Last Lacrosse Game of 2020

Northwestern didn’t know it would be the last game of the season; North Carolina didn’t know it would be the last game of the season. Izzy Scane didn’t know it would be the last game of 2020 either, but she certainly played like it, scoring a career-high 8 goals on Monday against No. 1 UNC. The ‘Cats pushed the Tar Heels more than any other opponent had this season, but eventually fell by a 20-18 scoreline.
Northwestern finished the suspended season with a 4-3 record and a top-10 ranking in the polls. Scane ended the year on 29 goals in seven games, followed closely by Lauren Gilbert with 25. A team many predicted to make the Final Four ended the season without a chance to reach its full potential after the Big Ten Conference announced that all spring sports are cancelled for the rest of the season in an effort to curtail the spread of COVID-19.
