Walker and Thorson Earn Big Ten Weekly Honors

After knocking off a ranked foe in Stanford Saturday, it’s no surprise that several Northwestern Wildcats are receiving honors from the Big Ten. Anthony Walker was named the conference’s defensive player of the week Tuesday, and Clayton Thorson received freshman of the week honors.

Walker finished with 10 tackles, three tackles for loss, two pass break-ups and half a sack. The sophomore middle linebacker was all over the field in the 16-6 victory.
Thorson threw for 105 yards on 12-24 passing. He also ran for 68 yards on 8 carries, including a 42-yard scamper in the second quarter that put NU up by seven. Most importantly, the redshirt freshman did not turn the ball over in his first career game as a Wildcat.
